Overview

4Culture is a King County government agency that funds cultural projects. 4Culture’s mission is to make King County a culturally rich place, by financially supporting projects related to public art, artistic events, cultural heritage and cultural preservation. This project was to redesign the logo and the mobile website.

Since the 4Culture is fully funded, they do not need to attract donations. Their key to success is getting artists to apply for grants. My strategy for both the logo design and mobile website design was to increase the number of grant applications.

Logo

4Culture’s logo is simple and works well in monochrome, but does not visually communicate arts and culture. The new logo design keep the lettermark/workmark style while better communicating themes of both support and culture. The “4” represents the agency which is grey, simple and stable. the “C” or “culture” represents the culture and is bold and vibrant. The “C” is visually supported by the “4”

Mobile Flow

An anaylsis of the mobile website was conducted. The route to finding a grant on the site was long and circuitous, requiring seven pages and scrolling! This was due to poor infomation architecture. The site pages mixed content that promoted previous work and offered information for artists. Because of the site’s structure, there was no way for a user to quickly see a differne grant after finding one.

The site was restructured and redesigned with large calls to action for grant finding.
